Arts Council
The PNC Arts Council is a multi-cultural, local arts organization that serves a rural, progressive Mississippi community.
The organization, incorporated in 1978, is open to all those interested in supporting and promoting the awareness and understanding of, as well as the participation in, the arts and cultural heritage.
All Council activities are open to the public.
Mission
To stimulate and encourage the awareness, study and presentation of, as well as the participation in, literary, performing and visual arts.
Goals
The goals or the PNC Arts Council are to:
- Support and promote arts education
- Encourage early awareness of, and appreciation for, the arts and cultural heritage, as well as encourage participation in the arts by sponsoring and/or supporting literary, performing and visual arts programs in academic environments
- Stimulate increased understanding of and participation in the arts and cultural heritage by sponsoring public literary, performing and visual arts productions, exhibitions, seminars and workshops
- Link the arts to economic development through partnerships
Membership
Membership is open to all area residents, individuals, businesses and corporations.
Funding
The PNC Arts Council is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Funding is provided by annual membership dues and generous donations made by friends and supporters of the arts, including:
- The governments of the City of Philadelphia and Neshoba County
- The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians
- The Mississippi Arts Commission
