Who Should Join the Philadelphia Main Street Association?
What is Main Street?
Main Street is a downtown revitalization program. The decline of central business districts began over 35 years ago with the opening of strip centers and malls that pulled major retail from downtown. The National Trust began the national Main Street to assist states and local communities in revitalizing their central business districts in hope of saving and restoring downtown’s historic structures. The Main Street program consists of a four point approach:
- Organization
- Design
- Promotion
- Economic Restructuring
Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the Philadelphia Main Street Association is to support and educate the merchants and the citizens of Philadelphia, while working to develop, enhance, and revitalize our downtown business district, making it a community hub that serves our city and county.
Partnerships
The most successful projects are those that have solicited a consensus of concerned and involved organizations and/or people. Philadelphia Main Street Association is a partner of the Community Development Partnership, an umbrella that houses the Chamber, Industrial Development, Tourism, and Main Street. These organizations are all working toward the success of downtown Philadelphia as well as Neshoba County. The future of our community is brighter when everyone brings something to the table.
Who Should Join the Philadelphia Main Street Association?
You should! We are a volunteer-driven organization that is supported by local businesses, residents, and community organizations. By bringing these groups together, we ensure that all who have a stake in this neighborhood have the chance to participate in its future. If you live, work, own a business, own property, or represent an organization in the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Area, we invite you to join your neighbors who are already involved!
